The Bright-Eyed Sequencer is a Sunless Sea Story Event.
Overview[]
The amount of Sphinxstone you can ferry from the
Salt Lions to
London is strictly limited, and controlled by the
Deliveries from the Salt Lions Quality. Each load you deliver will increase it by a random number between 1 and 5. This means that as early as 2 deliveries, and as late as 10 deliveries, the Bright-Eyed Sequencer will appear, and you'll be here.
Whichever option you select, you'll be returned to the Fallen London (in the Gazzeteer, you never leave port), where Penstock will be waiting, with Penstock's Plea, allowing you to select an alternate delivery location. Consider carefully, the results are shown below. In addition to what's listed, everyone gets 50 x Echoes per 1 x Sphinxstone and 1 x
Secret.

The Bright-Eyed Sequencer[]
Story description[]
“That stone's full of old memories. The Bazaar has been drinking them.” She nods at the spires that loom over London, the dark limbs that sprawl through the streets. “I have a better destination.
Help us bring light here below, and we will reward you - reward you richly.”
Trigger conditions[]
When you have 1 x Sphinxstone and arrive in
London, and your
Deliveries from the Salt Lions is between 10 and 49, an option to deliver Sphinxstone elsewhere will appear. Selecting that will trigger the Bright-Eyed Sequencer.

Accept
“Rich reward.” “Light.” These are happy words. |
|
A brilliant smile
“Captain, thank you. You are clear of eye and clear of spirit. Bring the Sphinxstone south, to the Grand Geode. It was an Admiralty base, once. Now it's something wonderful.” She kisses you warmly on the cheek. “We'll see you soon.”

Refuse
Those bright bright eyes: the unmistakable mark of the Dawn Machine. None understand the Dawn Machine, but all fear it. Who knows what its motives are? Or hers? |
|
A bright and brittle smile
“Not an admirer of Progress, I see. Well then: keep your stone, keep your memories. ‘None so blind as those who will not rise.’”

Data ID | 176107 |
Penstock's Plea is a Sunless Sea Story Event.
Story description[]
“The Bazaar has been feasting on old memories from the Salt Lions. It only makes her more melancholy, and that's worse for all of us... but especially those who love her.
So we've found another use for the Sphinxstone. We can set something right.”
Trigger conditions[]
Upon returning to London after speaking to
The Bright-Eyed Sequencer, you'll have an opportunity to abandon her request, and speak to Penstock, who will give you a new task, based on Your Past.
See the Overview for more details.

Accept his commission
“Take it far away. We'll tell you where. You will be paid.” |
|
“I'm grateful.”
“Here.” He presses a crumpled note into your hand. “This is where you should take it. You'll learn something, I think. I had to seek the Masters' help for this - we will all be enmeshed in their plans - but it's worth it. I swear it's worth it.” He grips your arm, and is gone. You unfold the note. ![]() ![]() |
Game Note: If you've already arranged with the Bright-Eyed Sequencer to take it to the Grand Geode, this will cause you to renege.
See Overview for details on where the delivery will be.
|
Reject his plea
He smells of ammonia and sadness. You should go somewhere that does not smell of those things. |
|
“Please!”
“If you change your mind - I'll still be here. Please. The Bazaar - she has been so sick with stories. Help me. Help her.”

This will allow you to continue your delivery to Grand Geode for the Bright-Eyed Sequencer. You can return here at later if you change your mind. |
